I hate the fact that the only reason i keep thinking Therizinosaurus is from Africa is because of Tanzania. |

No, there was stuff like "Ceratosaurus hunted Stegosaurus in pairs cuz the internet is flooded with pics of that" and plenty of claims which were merely personal opinions without facts.

The one thing I hate about paleontology is also one of the things I like about it. Our image of what extinct species were like is constantly changing. It's good in that we're always learning more about what they were and how they behaved, and sometimes the results turn out to be badass and weird. But it's bad in that as a paleoartist, ye can't draw anything or appreciate anything ad expect it to stand the test of time. It's almost like Game of Thrones. "Favourite restoration? Ha, that's cute..." *writes in tragic plot twist* |

True, but at least I don't think we have to worry about such radical shifts as those that initiated the Dinosaur Renaissance anymore. Shifts in paleontology these days tend to be more subtle, no doubt due to the fact that we have a much better and more detailed fossil record by now. |

The most annoying thing about paleontology for me is not the fact the people can't tell the difference between a Pteranodon or Dinosaur or even an Elasmosaurus and a Dinosaur (even though it is slightly annoying). To be honest I don't mind if people don't know much on the study of the extinct world. As long as they respect it as an actual career and don't use for just the entertainment of watching a fight between a T.rex and a Spinosaurus. But the thing that does annoy me and annoys me a lot is how much Paleontology is thought of a just something kids can enjoy. These days it seems like paleontology is treated as something only kids like and it is expected that they just outgrow them. In fact on day I was having a garage sale being a young adult and was selling most of my dinosaur stuff being a collector of such things myself. Then a lady came up to me and asked me if those were my things and when I said yes said "looks like you finally outgrew that silly dinosaur stuff". It was a hard to keep a straight face . And to be honest the new walking with dinosaurs 3d movie didn't really help either. I had high hopes for that movie. Oh well we can't always have the epicness of the first Walking With series Oh and Incinerox to be honest I really like paleoart even if it is not exactly accurate. Some of my favorites are Zdenek Burian's old paintings which even if they are inaccurate are still pretty cool. Edited by Carnoraptorsaur, Oct 14 2014, 11:06 PM.

So much this! I can't stand it when people say dinosaurs are just for kids, I don't know where that idea even came from TBH. Edited by CyborgIguana, Oct 14 2014, 11:57 PM.

I think it's safe to assume that Martin is some sort of supernatural being pulling the strings of the reality, messing with people's lives. Or 'just' (with the word just being quite unjust here) an author that managed to make his books' plot painfully real. ![]() "Oh, you have a favourite restoration that was making sense with all the knowledge you had up to this point? It would be a shame if someone... discovered fossils that proved it impossible." Edited by Similis, Oct 15 2014, 12:59 AM.

Paleo-restoration is like energy in that its always changing. I doubt we'll every know what ever extinct animal looked like.
