I will admit the Concept of all todays (shrink wrapping modern animals) is fun though.

OBig Al was the one who said he had autism and that was why we should leave him alone (all the while refusing to leave anyone else alone), and then Kohana mentioned that in a way that seemed to be implying it justified his actions (I was probably mistaken of the implications?)
so no, I was neither the first nor the only one to bring it up

I did report him, and I blocked him from contacting me (but I highly doubt gmail actually cares :P )

I only brought this up at all because others already had, sorry for throwing more wood on this
Guys sorry if this is off topic but I'm the one who told about what Big Al did off site. I posted all the flaming he did to get people aware. He did reply to my channel once to talk about dinosaurs gaining super powers through radiation.

On topic:
One word, Shrinkwrapping.
Oh Big Al, super power dinosaurs through radiation! Ha!  You crack me up!

Anyways back on topic:

By Shrink-wrapping I assume you mean the reconstruction of extinct animals based only on skeletal evidence right
You mean like this? "Shrink-wrapped"

Sorry I'm new to these terms :/

Them spider monkeys would make an amazing Halloween decoration to hang on your window.
It probably scares kids away :P

Maybe that means Estemmenosuchus looked like a hippo (well, one with insane bony protrusions on its head). :P

Ok sorry but this is the last off topic: Big Al made a reappearance. I got into an argument with him at Gaia yesterday and this morning. He goes by the name of Grendal. Interesting. It was in the Favorite Dinosaurs Poll

Back on topic: So does this mean most of the extinct animals we have reconstructed may not be accurate? I mean the toad looks pretty similar but the rest are way off.

I have trouble imagining that we're quite THAT far off with our reconstructions, but we're certainly not spot-on either. All Yesterdays (the book that those illustrations are from) was just trying to make a humorous point about how we can't deduce everything about the appearance of an animal from fossil remains alone. :P

those people who say dinosaurs are scary giant scaly monstrosity's just because they don't look scary with feathers. THEY ARE ANIMALS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD NOT MONSTERS FROM HORROR MOVIES

The fact that most feathered dinosaur depictions make a mistake that surprisingly is seldom pointed out: the legs leave the knee and thigh of the animal completely visible, despite the fact that in most living birds the upper portion of the leg is almost completely hidden by feathers so that only the foot and ankle can be seen (which is also why the ankles of birds are commonly mistaken for the knees by laymen).

I'm not slow! That's just my moe!

well most birds have considerably small thighs, which isn't true of many other dinosaurs

*edit* I meant the thigh being well defined under the feathers, not having bare thighs

This was funny. I used to draw dinosaurs like that but then I saw Paleoart of dinosaurs with the legs visible and I started drawing dinosaurs with their legs visible. Nowadays I have reverted to drawing dinos the Corecct way.
