What annoys you about paleontology?; Rant on about moronic theories, complaints, or just animals that annoy you.

puffins don't just use their bills for display, they serve a number of purposes ranging from allowing them to carry more food, to aerodynamics and counterbalance for swimming underwater
That is very true, sltough i fail to see what this has to do with our subject matter ATM, while puffins have deep bills, they bear little similarity with the nut cracking monstrosities that are the bills of giant herbivorous, seed eating birds, if anything their similarity is merely superficial.

infact, sorry for asking, but, when did we ever suggest puffin beaks were for display purpose only, or even mentioned puffins for that matter?

Or it could have been that big because it was used like a display structure ?
Kinda like puffins ?
It was me (although I didn't say it was for display only).

Creative license bro. Try not to get pissed off by every little drawing, especially most aren't being used in an educational context.

To be fair though, I can understand his frustration at how difficult it can be to find REAL animals being depicted as they actually were in real life! It's akin to searching images of modern animals on Google and finding most of the results looking
like these.

Those are a cat, a cow, a baboon, and a swan respectively BTW...

Well you can't expect everyone to know it.
Otherwise some people might expect you to know nuclear physics well too.

Maybe.... although to be honest, I just see that as another example of creative license. Also, I hadn't seen the baboon or swan yet, so thanks, I guess :3

Those images are in fact intended as parodies of inaccurate paleo-art, and you're welcome.

When your sitting in a museum studies class and the professor addresses a dinosaur as "Brontosaurus", and you have to correct him.

Read: College level, museum studies professor, calling a dinosaur "Brontosaurus".

Ugh.
