Well, Euoplocephalus is quite the big name too.

Also Polacanthus (thanks to WWD) and maybe Kentrosaurus and Nodosaurus.

True, but they're not more popular than Anky and Stego. And Scelidosaurus is at least as popular, if not more so, than some of those mentioned (Nodosaurus, I'm looking at you.)

The idea of all-stars in dinosaur palaeontology in general bugs me. Just because a dinosaur isn't Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Brachiosaurus or Stegosaurus, DOESN'T MEAN IT'S NOT INTERESTING. My goal in palaeontology is to make the public accept the rarer dinosaurs for what they are and get rid of the "all-star" treatment

PrimevalBrony is right the original few are overused whereas dinosaurs like concavanator or even simple rajasaurus are getting no love but are much more odd and cooler in comparision to the oringinals. Just to make sure im not biased towards carnivores diabloceratops, beipasaurus and even.. tenetosaurus

I know. Literally EVERY SINGLE DINOSAUR MOVIE/TELEVISION SHOW/BOOK CAN'T NOT MENTION THE ALL-STARS ABOUT 3 BILLION TIMES

This right here is the truth I cant reember the last time when something like proceratosaurus or something unknown by the general public is EVER featured and the last time I recall was jurassic worlds dimorphodon. But.. you know it was precieved as a pteranadon. Also the fact that t-rex is the most stupid fictional movie monster and is nothing compared to any carnivores. Also the fact that they are always scaly and and never comfirmed to be a relative to birds. Like why cant my mainraptorians be related to casswory?

I find it ironic that people are going hipster about dinosaurs, then complain when I point out other interesting critters like non-placental mammals.

Honestly people who only care about like 4 or 5 of the best-known dinosaurs are indeed annoying, but I find "paleo-hipsters" like you two equally (if not more) annoying. There's nothing inherently wrong with the "all-stars", they're just animals like anything else.

Yeah I would say Im kind of a paleohipster but not to a full extent because My favourite dinosaur is allosaurus which if people spent ten minutes of looking up dinosaurs it would be found possibly easily but yeah I would agree that im a paleohipster but I litterally just opened a book and just took the names out of it (well a few of them) But just to get my point I dont have too much hate for the originals (Except for everyone depicting rex/raptor as scaley) Otherwise im fine with them. But back onto topic I was playing the isle and yet I had at least 20 or so people rage at me when I said that quetzocoatlus is not a dinosaur. Also my science teacher thinks cryptoclidus is a dinosaur and allosaurus as a t-rex .___.

Edit: Sorry if that came off as rude (I have asbergers and just wanted to defend myself a little as I generqally dont have a problem with them)

1) Don't call me a palaeo-hipster please, I just simply hate that 5 dinosaurs take ALL THE LIMELIGHT. Also there's nothing wrong in wanting rarer dinos to take the spotlight
2) There isn't anything wrong with the actual animals, it's that they're in everything and they're the only ones the public care about that bugs me

While yes, Quetzalcoatlus is not a dinosaur, you really don't need to go around pointing that our to everyone. They are perfectly valid in being annoyed.

You know when your browser puts a little red squiggly line under a word right? Well please when it does that just quickly check to make sure you aren't spelling it wrong, it's actively difficult to read your posts and understand what you're trying to say.

Please don't use situations such as autism or aspergers as a get out of jail free card. A lot of people have them and it's offensive when people try and use them to justify putting less effort into themselves.

Sure there are a lot of people who don't know many different species of dinosaurs, but that's ok. I'd be willing to bet you don't know a lot about different kinds of cars, or species of sport fish, or the names of super models, or about old movies. Everyone has their own interests and it's important to recognize that not everyone's will overlap with your own.

If anything it's not the public to blame at all, they simply haven't been exposed because the media is too afraid of not including recognizable species.

I find children like you the most annoying thing about paleontology. You find one animal that you've never heard of before and you cling to it arbitrarily so you can lord your "knowledge of rare dinosaurs" over others. You complain constantly about how laymen don't know the names of your selection of dinosaurs that you think are obscure but really aren't even a little bit. I have worked with people who actually know obscure dinosaurs. I have friends who actually know about obscure dinosaurs. You just found a "top ten rarest dinosaurs" article and based your life around it, just like half the kids your age who like dinosaurs.
