Could be worse. Think of Scrotum humanum.
Or Dinosaurus, which is not a dinosaur. Or Pterosaurus, which is not only not a Pterosaur. It's not even an Archosaur. It's a goddamn junior synonym for the crested chameleon.

What kind of abomination would partake in such tomfoolery?!

Well Dinosaurus isn't valid anymore, it's now Brithopus priscus. Why is it that all the cool names always seem to go under?

The Isle community, it's horribly toxic, hates any sort of feather-like integument, and gives anyone who like dinosaurs a bad name. Doesn't help that devs like Dondi continue to fuel the fire with his unprofessional behavior.

Please dont murder me but I play it and I only play it waiting for saurian to be honest but somehow you are 100% correct! As someone who personally has to witness it, its the somehow a mix between idiotic, toxic and just cringey
But its probably the closest thing to saurian (sadly) Also somehow Yi Qi Has made me fall in love with ornithopods just because of his Tianyulong posts.

I read in a paleontology paper that the 15 meter superadults are actually average size and that they got much larger.

No, just no.

I mean with the way every other giant fossil being found is going it's not the worst thing ever. Because let's face it when a large set of bones are found the first thing some people notice is that "Hey! This animal wasn't nearly fully grown!" (I'm looking at you Gigantoraptor, Dreadnoughtus, Apatosaurus, and Alamosaurus)

The term "much larger" does kinda irk me cause that can be greatly exaggerated

It's entirely possible that there are larger Anatosaurus annectens specimens out there, but to think there could be individuals larger by a significant order of magnitude is preposterous.

We've already known for decades that the average size of the species was only around 8 metres. Specimens surpassing 12m are rare enough, let alone 15m.

Honestly, yes. There was literally no excuse for Scrotum humanum to happen at all, let alone actually naming a genus based on their preserved nether regions alone.
