How damned hard it is to find a SINGLE image of Tenontosaurus that DOESN'T have a pack of drooling Deinonychus at its heels. |

http://www.deviantart.com/?q=Tenontosaurus Not so hard. It's just an old trope that refuses to go away, much like bald tyrannosaurids and pronated dinosaurian hands

At least the Deinonychus are feathered in the few pics where they appear. |

I know I'm kind of on a double-posting spree lately, but sometimes things have to be said and there's no one to post other things that have to be said. So anyway, I'm annoyed by the synonomy between dinosaurs and little children in the pop-consciousness. I mean, it's nice that kids are taking an interest in paleo-life, but I don't see why dinosaurs have to be seen as something EXCLUSIVELY for kids! They can be enjoyed by anyone, not just by six-year-olds. |

Unless general older public is well-educated on the topic, this will be treated as such. And given the neglect that paleontology receives in many schooling systems, it won't happen soon. It is more important to educate another brick in the wall than an independently interested person. |

It's so good to know thwat Pterodaptyl and Dinosaurus Rex aren't exclusive to my country! (Actually it's bad really )Anyways, what's really funny is that the Portuguese word for "fast" is "rápido", which is pretty similar both in spelling and in writing to "Raptor" so in Brazil it's not unusual to hear about the deadly "velocirápido", which means "Velocifast"... ![]() Also, in some older books (Even serious books at that ) used to call Deinonychus "Deinonicossauro", which would be the portuguese equivalent of "Deinonychosaurus", because, as everybody knows, Dinosaws all had "sawus" in their names, duh...

Though, to be fair, Deinonychosauria is the name of the clade containing Troodontidae and Dromaeosauridae, so I can see how some people would get confused. Velocirapido, on the other hand, is just plain hilarious! |

In many old Thai language book about dinosaur. They always spell any dinosaurs with -saurus into "-saorus".... So, they're Tyrannosaorus, Stegosaorus, Apatosaorus, etc.... |

once, me and my friend decided that from that moment we would have called every dinosaur with names ending with -titan. so we had Triceratotitan, Stegotitan and so on. we had to surrender when we met Tyrannotitan, since we didn't know what to do with it's name ... |
