What annoys you about paleontology?; Rant on about moronic theories, complaints, or just animals that annoy you.

There'll be no foot-walking! Just air-flying!

Agreed. That and people claiming that palaeontology doesn't have a point and it didn't bring anything to us so far, same with evolution. People who think that don't want to think further than their own view of the world and don't even want to look up stuff about it.

I'm annoyed by all the resistance towards the idea of a feathered T.rex among many paleo-fans, even those who CAN live with the idea of a feathered raptor (and so they should, because feathered maniraptors are an accepted fact of the Mesozoic world by now). Just browse some of the worse forums for the Crynosaurus game and read some of the nightmarish complaints about the very accurate and beautiful tyrannosaur. I for one think that T.rex looks even more badass with feathers, sort of like a gigantic terror bird! It might not have had a full coat, sure, but Rexy definitely had some feathers on its body.

I so agree on that! I believe if not all dinosaurs had a fluffy over coat of feathers they at least had some feathers on their body because even Abeilosaurids had a form of feathers on them most likely on the head or even on their under belly.

The entire body of Carnotaurus has been preserved, and doesn't show any evidence of feathers. Even if feathers themselves weren't preserved, the skin impressions should still display the quill knobs where feathers would have attached. Carnotaurus's skin doesn't show anything of the sort, so we can safely say that abelisaurids were scaly and reptilian in appearance.

I say don't just give the paleo-freaks an ounce of respect. We require the same amount of dignity and consideration that everyone enjoys!

Who says it is the entire body? Or every Abeilosaurids was scaly? One species like in canines or in genetic breeds can have no hair or feathers in birds. So there was a possibility that a carnotaurus stomach or even tail had some form of feathers or quills.

This is a misconception, actually. We don't have full skeleton of the animal, we don't even know how long was it's tail and legs exactly. The skin impressions come from the flanks of the animal, we do not have a mummy or a larger imprint.

So yes, Carnotaurus could've had some sort of fuzzy here and there for whatever purposes, even though, for a feather nazi I am, it's not how I imagine the animal to be.

T. rex fanboys and their hatred and disdain for Spinosaurus. Seriously, they have to stop dissing an animal just because of a mediocre depiction more than a decade ago, especially an animal as amazing as Spinosaurus! If they actually looked into Spino's real-life biology, appearance, and habits instead of just saying "screw Spino, he's a jerk who ruined my childhood" they'd probably agree on how fascinating a dinosaur it is. But given the obnoxious and idiotic nature of most hardcore JP fanboys, I can't say I'm surprised. Never mind how remarkable or unique a certain dinosaur is, if it can't "pwn thingz good", JP fans won't give it so much as a passing glance.

The fact that feathered dinosaurs are "six foot turkeys" in some peoples eyes. I actually had a Dr. Grant rant on some kid who said dinosaurs weren't as "good" feathered. Like, what?

Thank you for the set, Azrael!

I really don't understand that.

Even if it's true... so what? I could say wolves are scarier bald too, but even if that's true they're still not being portrayed accurately if they're bald.

Agreed, too many paleo-fans think something must be true because it's "cooler that way". Under that logic, I could snap my fingers and my dog could turn purple because I think she looks better that way.

For me I do not mind if the colors are odd, especially on a extinct species that are not mammals, aka Mammoths. Dinosaurus I do not care about because I like to color my dinosaurs my way. However certain dinosaurs who we know the color of like mircoraptor.

I just meant people who argue that a dinosaur MUST have looked a certain way because it's "kewler". I also like to experiment with different colours in my dino drawings. ;)

Exactly I can't stand that! I hate how some people are like I mean even some paleo fans say "No! dinosaurus were lizards and scaly!" Just because of Jurassic park, I mean really... I mean WWD or something I can understand, but JP really!

Then I hate the overly religious people who say well dinosaurus were not birds they were lizards who noah or whoever the person was left off the boat or ship or whatever. I mean really I don't care but if you push that idea, I want to kick them in the sun no shine place or punch them in the jaw and say one "Stop pushing your crud on me then dinosaurs were birds! Evolution exists!" I just really hate those people who push their ideas or beliefs on a non related subject like paleontology in which dinosaurs never really believed in a god, nor anything like that. Just eat, dump, sleep, mate, and be fluffy!

Pardon that last paragraph if it seemed off topic. I mean really Paleontology and religion should never mix.
