So, in other words, pretty much everyone I know. JP was reasonably accurate for its time, albeit with a few exaggerations to some of its animals, but nowadays thinking it's an accurate depiction of prehistoric life is inexcusable! |

Well, to be fair, the only excessively inaccurate dinosaurs were the Pteranodons, the Dilophosaurus, and of course Chuck Norris aegyptiacus. The T. rex at least was fairly accurate, scalyness and motion based vision aside, and the herbivores (Particularly the Pachy, Para, and Trike) were almost perfect. The raptors could at least be excused as Science Marches on, as pronated hands and scales on raptors were excusabel at the time JP was made. But yeah, I see your point. |

Aside from the Trike's lack of qweelz (though that's perfectly excusable for the time the movies were made). But one thing: were pronated hands ever excusable? I thought they were always just due to lack of research. Anyway, I'm annoyed by people who think evolution ALWAYS leads towards bigger, smarter, and more badass organisms. With misconceptions like these being so common, it's actually little wonder that many creationists consider evolution such bullcrap. |

It's always like that, people tend to see some groups as bad only because they know the worst part of them. Like environmentalists who hate hunters because of those irresponsible mass-murderer without respect for nature. |

You guys hate religion getting pushed down your throat. To be honest, I get tired of people that play church then turn around and act like their priests. -facepalm- We're all not that bad. A few that act stupid sadly stereotype the many that actual have respect for others. Also to stay on topic. I hate the shrink wrap artists as much as everyone else but there are also some "meat on the bones" pics that make you think the animals need a slimfast shake. I mean seriously There is a middle ground. Dinosaurs did not die from being anorexic and paleo Mcdonalds did not exist so please keep them at a healthy weight. |

I was simply complaining about misunderstandings of how evolution works. I said nothing about religion or creationists. I agree about the shrink-wrapping thing though. Dinosaurs shouldn't look anorexic, but they shouldn't be obese either (of course, it still depends on the dinosaur in question). On another topic, I'm annoyed by the fact that Microsoft Word underlines almost all dinosaur names. Even Velociraptor is underlined! The only ones that aren't are the several species best known to the public like Tyrannosaurus, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Diplodocus etc. Edited by CyborgIguana, Mar 31 2014, 01:47 PM.

They look overwaighted. If there is an argument against skinn wrapped drawings the same thing could be said against overlyweighted despictions of prehistoric animals. And there is something called imagination and artistic license. I agree that profesional paleoartists that work for magazines or journals should aim for scientific accuracie in their drawings. But the normal people that we just enjoy drawing stuff for the fun of it we are not aiming to be hiperrealistic and we choose to recreate the animals according to how we imagine them, taking the corresponding arctistic licenses. |

These animals look like real hadrosaurs. They were drawn by professional palaeontologists such as John Conway and Darren Naish
