Pattern and face look nice, but the dark feathers on the back look more like fish scales than real feathers to me ... |

I think, that I am the only person, who doesn't like dinosaur reconstructions, who are based of modern birds ( besides some exceptions )

I like the use of modern bird colorations as long as it isn't copy paste, and looks natural I prefer original color patterns because we have such a small representative of their colors and patters that what we know cannot possibly be even close to the spectrum of colors and unique patterns that were displayed by dinosaurs as a collective, so...better to be original than to repeat an living animals coloration |

PRAISE THE WITTON![]() Warrahs and thylacines. Don't know if that counts as palaeoart, or whatever, but still disgustingly cute. |

They are. Just looked on his blog- He's posted the commisions he did at the beginning of the year, which is why there's so many at once. Deinonychus is my favourite out of them, though I didn't even see the Talenkauen until it was pointed out. |

Is this a repainted WWD Tapejara? They look almost identical. I dislike extinct animals drawn with the colour and pattern of a specific extant species, it seems really lazy. Similarities and convergence can do a lot, but the exact same pattern and colour is absurd. Edited by Paleosaurus, Feb 21 2015, 03:34 AM.

John Conway, of course. Witton has a great knowledge of extinct animals, but so does Conway, and I think Conway is a professional artist, rather than a hobby artist. ![]() Ever since I saw this in All Your Yesterdays its been a personal favourite... Image by DeviantArtist Uralowa. |
