Reminds me of a theory I read about somewhere that proposed the nub on the back of Lambeosaurus's crest may have supported a low dorsal ridge. While I find it likely that the nub supported some kind of soft tissue (probably a membrane connecting it with the main head crest) this theory sounds questionable to me.

The best thing is titanopteran's size isn't exaggerated.

What if the para's frill went up and down, like a fish's back fin. Just kidding. Very improbable, but cool.

Here comes a very in depth evaluation of the skin flap Idea ( the head to tail version, not the crest to head version.
Spoiler: click to toggle

Sorry for the little rant, just such a skin fold is "Literally") Painfully impractical, for it would rip in the forests. I will start a topic for such in depth analysis as this.

EDIT:
This is awesome http://rah-bop.deviantart.com/art/Jinfengopteryx-elegans-346915032?q=favby%3AMeerkatmatt2%2F49804774&qo=101

Except the notch in the vertebra was, some time ago, identified as a pathology rather than a species-characteristic feature.

The pterosaur part is unfortunately long ago declared bullshit, considering that the pterosaur wings were much more resistant to damage than the paper-like membranes people often think they had.

Skin flap couldn't extend further than to the shoulders, because on the back it would simply lack support and behave more like a horse's mane than iguana spikes - it would simply fall to the sides. It is possible these animals had such soft tissues, but it's not confirmed. They could've just as well have no skin flap at all under the crest.

Considering the whole "Idea" revolves around the notch in the back, I can't consider it to be plausible. :P

Opps, I kept comparing the membranes to bat wings.
Plus big pterosaurs still wouldn't like thick forests.

Sure, they can't manoeuvre between trees, so it is safe to assume that the bigger ones stay away from them.

I wouldn't compare Albertosaurinae to cheetahs, I don't think they could run for long distances because of their size.
Also, there was another tyrannosaur in the area, Daspletosaurus, which looked more adapt to an ambush hunting strategy, so it's quite likely to have inhabited forests.
