And not even because the artist is Mark Witton. THIS is how Dinosaur stories ought to be done.
The fact that it's Mark Witton still certainly helps, though. :P

I actually really like that styling.

What's with the switch-up? He workin' on a graphic novel or something?

That would remove money from my pockets faster than any steam sale ever will.

I know it's overdone but I love John Conway's work especially this piece, there's something so vibrant about it!

originally, one_piece

you know why? here's what i think, the reason that makes John Conway's art look so great is his understanding of colors and how he efficiently use it in his works. the whole image which you posted above, if you go deep into it, you will realized that the whole thing is very de-saturated, but on the 3 main characters, the dinosaurs, there are vibrant colors around their heads which guide the viewer's eyes towards it. and though it's hard to see, this pic uses the Tetradic (double complementary) color scheme. the yellow in the tarbosaurus's mouth is complementary to the blue tint of the sky, and the red in the orithormimus (i think) neck, is of course complementary to the green bushes in the background.

i have only learned about understanding colors in arts a few months ago. and with this new knowledge, looking back at all my favorite paleo artists, i'm started to realized what makes them so great. not just for the accuracy of their reconstructions, but also how beautifully they presented their arts. so that's just my 2 cents, a word of wisdom i suppose for any one who is interested in making paleo arts themselves.

sorry to bored you with my words, here, have a kitty

Just don't ever call his work "overdone" again or I'll have a fit, Conway isn't deserving of ANY form of criticism whatsoever. :P

BTW those are actually Gallimimus in the pic, not Ornithomimus (which, while roughly contemporaneous with Tarbosaurus, lived halfway across the planet from it).

Here's something very hard to find in Paleoart, which makes it pretty cool.

This is by Acinonyx Jubatus on the TRT or Pterosaur-Freak on Deviant Art, they're the same person.

For ARK, this thing is great. 10/10. I mean sure they put a Spino skull there on the dossier because, hey, it's ARK, but it has the weird neck and pushed back crest and everything

The Carno might be more accurate, but honestly I think Carnotaurus is cursed to be accurate(-ish) in dinosaur games.

Probably the best Spinosaurus reconstruction in my opinion mostly due to how meaty and strong it looks.
