Always been a fan of this Deinonychus model from the 90's (sculpted by Stephen Czerkas IIRC):![]() Check it out, it even has the correct forelimb orientation! Aside from the obvious lack of feathers (and the finger scutes which I don't consider especially likely either), it's aged fairly well. Edited by CyborgIguana, Feb 24 2016, 05:01 PM.

Honestly if you were going to do the abominable and make your raptors scaly, that reconstruction would be the best way to go about it. The scale arrangement matches those known from other dinosaurs, including foot scutes. In a reconstruction like that, you would expect to see those same scutes on the fingers. |

It does look good though, considering it was the 90's and probably influenced by the JP Raptors, which seemed to be the case back then, even the WWD series had scaled raptors, and that was considered the (or one of the) most accurate dinosaur series of it's time. I must admit, that's how I'd imagine a raptors face would look, I've always imagined the face, particularly the snout, to be the most likely part of a raptors body, that was featherless. I know, but since the original JP film, featherless raptors have been pop culture. |

OMG that first one is adorable. Needs to be made into a cartoon, stat! The T. rex in the second reconstruction needs feathers obviously, but it's a beautiful painting nevertheless. |
