I'm quite certain you mixed type species with genus, which, again, should be written in italics if you refer to the full name and nowhere is it pointed that the name of species should be written capitalized :P Even wiki articles, which are carefully written, of the animals you mention, use proper naming :)

Actually it's a relatively recent picture, the artist of these drawings just seems to hate feathers for some reason (even his Yutyrannus has as few feathers as possible). :P
