I know that, I'm just not a fan of dinosaurs reconstructed with feathers like that. They just don't look appealing to me, they look ridiculous.

Even if many of the reconstructions arguably look ridiculous, one still must appreciate the efforts of All Yesterdays and All Your Yesterdays to break the long-standing trend of overly conservative paleo-art.

I appreciate the attempt, but as Mark Witton said, there is the feeling that it was reconstructed in the spirit of "This animal is often reconstructed to look a certain way, but what if it looked like THIS?!", which doesn't strike me as a healthy attitude.

1: Don't you ever say that to me again.
2: Don't you ever say that to me again.
Now, I appreciate breaking cliches, but some of All Yesterdays and All Your Yesterdays seem specifically made to spite people who prefer conservative reconstructions. You should want to break cliches to challenge your audience, and to make a reconstruction that's different from the norms, and speculative, but with basis in what we know of that creature, and not just to piss off a certain demographic.

The reconstructions in All Yesterdays are entirely within the basis of what we know of the creatures. The book is filled with accurate skeletal diagrams just to make this point. Personally, I think you're misunderstanding the entire purpose of the book's existence. It doesn't exist just to say "Ha! You don't like this reconstruction, screw you!" like you seem to think it does.

Before you all jump on Hax, I just want to say that there's a difference between finding something unattractive and finding something implausible...

Well, I'm not necessarily even talking just exclusively about those books, I'm more just talking about the speculative reconstructions that came out because of them. That certain attitude isn't exclusive to one book series, after all.

Thanks!!! That is what i was trying to say with the Laellynasaura. But as usual people jumped to my jugualar at the slightless complain of a fluffy dinosaur reconstruction... and i wasn't even complaning about it being feathered.

Edit: the post was meant as a response to Okeanos post xD

As long as it is plausible, I think there's no problem for getting as wild as you want.

Well, all in all it's certainly a great book. I recently bought it off eBay and I'm really looking forward to its arrival. You guys are entitled to your own opinions, but remember that so are we.

Maybe it's also because I just don't find All Your Yesterdays' style attractive. It just seems sort of flat and the colors don't really pop for me. I prefer art work like Luis Rey's artwork, so All Yesterdays and All Your Yesterdays artwork is kinda bleh.

I'm not really a huge fan of overly flamboyant reconstructions TBH. Don't get me wrong, I like colourful dinosaurs, but Luis Rey is just a bit over-the-top with his paintings IMO.

I don't see how this works, given almost all the artworks were made by different artists :/
