And by overreacted, you mean replying "no", when asked if it was plausible.

Was it a joke? Judging by Bigwhales latest post, that part of it was not.

But yeah, I will just leave, this is getting annoying. You people have far to much respect for inaccuracy.

Just because you like some outdated reconstructions doesn't mean that you "have far to much respect for inaccuracy". It's totally possible to be aware of the inaccuracies of reconstructions and still enjoy them for other reasons, e.g. interesting patterns etc.
Besides: Todays reconstructions aren't perfect anyway. The reconstructions we consider accurate now might become obsolete in 50 (or maybe less) years.

Ok guys. Move on and just ignore him. I already warned him. Go back on topic please and don't feed this non-sense fight.

Source.
Interesting soft tissue speculation. And I gotta admit, I really have a thing for black/white patterns on animals. xD

I'd replace the "might" with an "almost definitely". I mean, just consider how much paleontological knowledge has changed in the last 50 years. I'm convinced things will be just as different 50 years from now.

Some of Apex's "reconstructions" are really starting to grow on me, in spite of their inaccuracies:

originally, one_piece

are those quills on it's hump? well that's new. maybe they were to avoid injuries from other predators and protect the spinosaurus's spine.

They are bristles according to the description of the picture:

Jumping in the badwagon of the latest news about Spinosaurus I have decided to update my version of this dinosaur.

Following the ideas of a shallow water wader, swimmer of mud-crawler living stiles, which seem to make some sense, I propose the idea of the elongated spines as base for a camouflage display.

If the animal lived basically near the ground, fishing, lurking, swimming or crawling, the presence of a high back profile seems out of place. So, what if the spines were covered in fuzzy bristles that help to broke the animal's profile? This would bring a resting or swimming Spinosaurus the aspect of a floating island of vegetal matter or just a bunch of riverine plants.
