I cannot believe they managed to get Arvalis of DeviantArt on concept work... I actually referred to his work a lot while drawing up a certain ref sheet for a certain creature of a draconic nature.

But a cetacean dorsal fin on the mosasaur? Was that a thing?
It is at least in more advanced Mosasaurs IIRC

I think he's talking about the smaller fin on its back, not the tail fin. In which case I think that's just some additional speculation.

plus tailfins have only been proven in platecarpines, and nowhere else on mosasaurs.

A tailfin has been found on Prognathodon, a mosasaurine.
