My only criticism of the rex is, those feathers are WAY too advanced, they look maniraptoriform-ish

other than that pretty cool!

but my favorite rex of all time has to be:

^ This one is by far the most cool looking, accurate and possibly the best researched depiction of this creature EVER made.

I would agree. Except there's one other which I might have mentioned before that for reasons I still cannot show. But it is equally accurate but at the same time MORE ridiculous.

I'm also liking how my Megaraptor skeletal's turning out, but annoyingly I don't have much to go by for an adult's skull other than Orkoraptor's and Aerosteon's postorbital and quadrate, and Australovenator's dentary. I'll post it up once I finish it up but I will tell you that many of you might enjoy what you see when it's done. Probably gonna turn out to be one of my favourite theropod clades as a result of this restoration...

But if we're gonna go by actual publically accessible pics, I like this one, even though it never got out of WIP stage.

I know TTR didn't put feathers on it (this was 2012), but he and I did so well on the colours here. It took 2 years to come up with a way for these colours to suit up-to-date integument (remember that one that I can't technically show but I spoke of earlier this post? Yeah it's that, but I teamed up with Doc/Dino589 instead. Because reasons).

Note how it's NOT this one which thankfully was since updated.

... ANYWAY...

Just so I don't seem like I'm flaunting my own crap, let me just post up a collection of things I've favourited on DeviantArt, spanning 30 of the most recent pages in that gallery:

If not for the naked thighs, I'd be completely on board with the Saurian rex. If someone's interested I could post the whole reasoning why naked thighs are over-used on many dinosaurs without looking at modern day biology. But meh, it's not that it's really a "bad thing". It's a very minor detail :P

Anyway

I don't always agree with Dinofuzz' restorations, but man, he always draws them in a very life-like manner.

We actually have T. rex skin from those areas. That's why.

Note, it's not scales either. We genuinely have elephantine leathery skin fragments from the belly, thighs, throat/gular pouch and tail underside of advanced tyrannosaurids including Tyrannosaurus.

Also, pics:

We do ? I got so many different sources claiming different things about the skin of Tyrannosaurus, with most of them claiming that we don't have specific information on where the skin was located ( though it depends really, most sources do mention the belly, the throat and the tail), but the thighs are a first to me really. I'd love it if you could link me to a source that has the final answer to this ( as I know there were some skin fragments where they couldn't really locate it due it being a bit disfigured ), this would really help me a lot !

The annoying thing is that most tyrannosaur skin is still technically undescribed and based on what's just floating around the ether or reported by paleontologists etc. The thigh skin is annoyingly no different so I'm currently going by what I've been told is out there.

I'm hoping to get some assistance to find something more substantial than just "I know a guy who knows a dude who said bla bla bla". When I get the papers/pics/more direct references to actual paleontologists, I'll forward it to ya then, aye?

Also more pics I like:

Number one looks like a real badass, number two looks very friendly (like a dolphin) and number three just looks very hungry! xD Real cool pics of ichtyosaurs! ;)

Ichthyosaurs are one of the many prehistoric animals that need more love IMO. People pay so little attention these days to anything that isn't a "badass" theropod.

I really like this model of a Carnotaurus (it is from the sideshow collectibles series: sideshow's dinosauria).
I'm not an expert of dinosaur anatomy and so on, but I would say that it is an (more or less) accurate and very detailed model of a Carnotaurus. What I also really like
about this model is the coloration - the mixture of more natural colours (green, brown and grey tones) and those darker stripes. Here are some more pics of this model - if you are interested! :D
