I know a good few of us here keep pet fishes as a hobby; while I also know a lot of us already have showed them in our personal pet topics I figured a general topic to show pics and ask questions and sturf couldn't hurt. Here's my aquarium: ![]() There's no way I could get pictures of the actual fish, but in this tank (20 gallons, 80 liters or so) now I have:
White Clouds Variatus Platy Fathead Minnow Crowntail Betta Algae Eating Shrimp Zebra Nerite What does everyone else (who keeps fish of course) keep? ![]() |

Ah, yeah. My first tank was like that. All of my decor in this one is natural rocks/wood/living plants. All really hardy ones though - java ferns, anubias, and a moss ball - because the lighting is really poor. |

I have a 65 gallon with a pair of pink skunk clowns, longnose hawkfish, royal gramma, Atlantic pincushion urchin, sand sifting starfish, serpent star, and skunk cleaner shrimp. I also have a 2 gallon bowl with some dwarf baby tears and a moss ball, though that's not really fish keeping.

Yes, there are a few nerites though the urchin kicked all the hermits out of their shells and they died.

Um... I have a 100 gallon with several african cichlids, IIRC... Greshaki, Albino Socolofi, Yellow Labs, Blue Johannis, and Kenyis. I also have a big, fat red cross tetra in there, haha. There used to be six, the others just sort of disappeared. I bought them so they can serve as dither fish. The survivor is doing pretty well, actually, he's doing a fine job of coaxing the cichlids out. I also have a couple of siamese algae eaters in there, two new raphael cats to serve as clean up crew, along with a big Synodontis eupterus. My asian box turtle is also temporarily living there. He's got light and a big slab of driftwood for basking, so he's doing fine. Surprisingly, he hasn't bothered any of my fish. Good turtle, he is. ![]() I have a 50 gallon with 5 mudskippers. They've just been transferred, and are doing quite well. I also have a handful of ghost shrimp inside. They were meant to be food, but the skippers didn't eat them, so now they serve as clean up crew.Lastly, I have another 50 gal where my chinese softshell turtle is temporarily living in, with his wild gourami tankmate. I caught the gourami in the floods and put it in there for food, as he used to eat nothing but fish, but ever since he got used to pellets, he hasn't bothered the fish ever since. ![]() I'm planning of constructing an enclosed pond in the front yard for my box turtle, and I plan on getting a bigger tank for my softshell. |

My tank was suppose to be only white cloud minnows and shrimp but it looked boring, so I tried to order a pair of scarlet badis fish at the shop only to find out that after taking my order, they do not carry that species. Looking for variety, I ended up just buying some cheap platies. The two fatheads (originally 4 but two died quickly) were bait minnows that my brother deemed "too special" to use as bait (I wouldn't use them anyway, my mom's friend did), and the betta had his own tank but it got so infested with some sort of slime mold I got tired of it and put them all together; it's an odd mix, but with a temperature in-between their two ideals (minnows like 72 degrees F, bettas like 78, so I keep it at 76), they do fine together. |

![]() my tank. actually this isn't a real aquarium but a terrarium, but since the real aquarium had something broken we turned the terrarium (which was empty at the time) into the new aquarium. so far i'm housing 9 (black ?) bullhead catfish and a couple of pond snails, the only survivors of the huge colony that invaded my tank earlier in the year. previously, i've kept: mosquitofish (most successful, lived for years and i managed to breed them rarely) topmouth gudgeons, the most aggressive feeders i've ver seen italian bleaks, the most delicate fish i've kept 1 crucian carp, lovely bugger baby channel catfish, boring because they were afraid of light and so they were active only at night Arno goby, killed by the bass baby largemouth bass, ate the gobies and died because they were too big (i didn't even think they could fit in their mouths) pumpkinseed sunfish, got rid of it because six days after introducing it in the tank it killed my last mosquitofish Anodonta clams, uprooted most decoir by moving around the tank pond snails, i started with one and then my tank was infested Louisiana crayfish, released when they became too big Palaemonetes antennarius, a cute little shrimp that's actually a voracious carnivore Great Diving Beetle, the most bloody predator i've kept a red betta, not in the same tank several dragonfly and damselfly nymphs, including a huge emperor dragonfly Nymph (again not in the same tank) i just prefer native fish, they are harder and easy to care compared to exotic ones, and i don't have the time to meet al the needs of things like tetras and such. I have two 20 gallon tanks. The first one has a pair of Convict Cichlid name Fronto(M) and Quicky(F). they are seperates now due Fronto's aggression toward his mate. The other tank has one female Cinvict names Pixie, she is ex-daughter in law of Fronto and Quicky. She also shares her tank with 6 Corydoras(divided from the cichlid since Pixie see them as new dessert and nip their fins.) There are 4 albino aeneus cories and 2 panda cories. I am planing to add other specie of cories as well, maybe sterbai or julie.( I want duplicareus as well but they are just too expensive! )
