White tail deer? ![]() Talking about giving pet away. I used to as well. It was a very bad time when I have to give my beloved oscars to a guy in the internet which I didn't know. Lucky for the fish, the new owner sent me their pictures showing that they have got a large tank to dwell as Silver Arowana's mate. They definitely are happier to stay there instead of sticking in my crappy small tank, waiting to be stunned. |

Mule deer. Close cousin to the whitetail. We don't have any here, but I got the antlers from Wyoming. ![]() @Fluffy - it's not that nice. I just try to give my pets as natural of an environment as possible. The birds are noticeably more active and behaving more naturally since they've gotten more space. The antics of the society finch courtship are especially interesting; the female will pick up a little piece of grass, wave it around, and start clucking and shaking her tail feathers while facing the male, who will then puff up like a pear and sing her a song, take the piece of grass, and stuff it ever-so-delicately into their little nest (and then furiously engage in intercourse with her )

I've made it even purdier with the addition of some more live plants (another draceana and a Christmas cactus - both clearanced (got 'em for a dollar each )and non-toxic) and some artificial vines. They really appreciate the natural surroundings. They've been working on a nest for days now, and Errol tries so hard to build one but every time he gets it big, Flurry decides she hates it and rips it apart and makes him restart. Poor guy never gets a break. Either way she should start laying in a few days so she'd better be okay with whatever he makes her. ![]() PICTURES! ![]() ![]() ^Errol and Pepper. ![]() ^Errol and... nobody else. ![]() ^ And the whole happy flock. At night, all four of them sleep huddled up in the nest. I've also seen Nutmeg, one of the spice finches, helping Errol build it. Basically everyone but Flurry - the one who actually needs the nest - helps build it. Flurry just watches and nags everyone. --- As you can see from my extravagant cage setup, I'm not one to be happy with anything but the best for my animals. They also have three kinds of food to choose from (a seed mix, a pellet mix, and an egg-laying pellet supplement); I don't trust any one brand to fulfill all of their dietary needs. In addition to that they also have their millet stalks and fresh vegetables, sometimes. So they're very healthy. #overlydotingpetparent |

They mate about 20 times a day. ![]() --- Which OMG reminds me, the four of them are impossibly cute in the morning. I wake up and pull the blanket off their cage for the day (they're covered at night so they don't wake me up at sunrise), and the four of them will all poke their heads out of the nest and look around for about 10 seconds, then they all jump out at once in a single bound beeping and peeping like crazy and flying all around the cage and hopping and just being cute. You can just picture them saying "Yay! It's morning! It's morning!". Then the spices immediately fly down for breakfast, but Errol always starts his day with a song for his beloved and a quick moment of romance before eating. They have such personality for such little animals. |

It's 2:50 AM. My birds have an unnatural sleep schedule to match my own, so they go to sleep around 2 AM and are uncovered at noon or so. It's a normal day/night length, just moved forward about 6 hours. They get all artificial lighting so they don't know any different. |
