Recently Extinct Species at London Zoo

London zoo is known as regent's park and one of the oldest zoos in world London Zoo.Today it houses a collection of 755 species with 16,802 individuals,
i founded that ZSL was home of many Extinct species...if any body know species other than that please post here.

Quagga (Equus quagga quagga
(Equus quagga quagga) is an extinct subspecies of the plains zebra that lived in South Africa.The only quagga to have been photographed alive was a mare at the Zoological Society of London's Zoo. Five photographs of this specimen are known, and it died in 1872.

Bubal Hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus buselaphus)

The Bubal Hartebeest, also known as Bubal Antelope or just Bubal (Alcelaphus buselaphus buselaphus) is the extinct nominal (i.e., first described) subspecies of hartebeest, that was formerly found north of the Saharan Desert.A female Hartebeest that lived in London Zoo from 4 October 1883 until 27 April 1897.

Syrian wild ass (Equus hemionus hemippus)
The Syrian Wild Ass (Equus hemionus hemippus), less commonly known as a hemippe,[1] is an extinct subspecies of onager (Equus hemionus) that ranged across Syria, Palestine, Jordan and Iraq.A female syrian wild ass was also lived in ZSL.

Northern sumatran rhino (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis lasiotis)
D. s. lasiotis, known as the northern Sumatran rhinoceros, once roamed in India and Bangladesh, but has been declared extinct in these countries. Unconfirmed reports suggest a small population may still survive in Burma, but the political situation in the country has prevented verification. Begum was also the type of the extinct subspecies D. s. lasiotis.

Javan rhino is not extinct.Javan rhinoceros has not been exhibited in a zoo in a century.

Thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus)
it is thought to have become extinct in the 20th century.between 1850 to 1931 ZSL exhibited 20 thylacines.ZSL was the first major zoological garden in world to exhibit thylacine in 1850

You can any find extinct species that was once lived at ZSL yourself and post here and i know that many species remain to show... :D :D

you can not always win by winning.

ZSL i go there every month i see lots of animals but none of these i could e get there in like 15 minutes but sad that they could not keep them all alive(not their fault anyway).

Wow, I didn't know the London Zoo had exhibited so many extinct species. I knew they used to have a quagga and thylacines, but that's about it. Too bad they're all gone now. :'(
