Seal cubs are killed for their fur probably, but I think we could use wool, if that is having the same use as the fur of seals. And moreover, why pups ? Doesn't the people have anything called "HEART" ? The pups are defenseless and adorable, and the hunters should have been feeling bad for killing them, else they are HEARTLESS HUMANS. Now, does that HSUS or something does the same thing ?

I think we all agree the killing of baby seals for fur should be forbidden. We are talking about the killing of adult seals, where everything is used, which is a world apart.

Humans are apex predators Slender, deal with it.
I SAID THIS CONVERSATION IS OVER! >:(
Sorry, I was still a bit offended by the fact that you insulted my entire country. But I agree that we shouldn't be killing defenceless big-eyed baby seals.

No offense but it's not my fault your countries choice to keep slaughtering seals is barbaric.

I can't believe it Cy, just when I thought you and I could be friends, you had to be in support of one of the most disgusting things in the world.

There was no need for this. If you have nothing constructive to say don't say anything!

SlenderRex, killing seals and using all of it equals hunting deer and using all of it. In fact, seal hunting is even stricter regulated than regular hunting AND done more humanely. It's an important source of money for the people who are allowed to do so, without which they could probably not survive. Plus, noone here (AFAIK) is pro the killing of cubs and mothers, or the unregulated killing.

I'm hoping that one day Canada will follow Russia's example and say, "oh god, how barbaric"
Actually Russia also has its own seal hunt & only banned the killing of baby seals in 2009.

As I have already pointed out, here in Canada it is illegal to kill baby or mother seals & has been that way since 1987. It is also illegal to just kill seals, the corpse or pelt must be brought back. Also, all pelts are checked to ensure no baby or mother seals were killed, and any that were are removed from the following years quota.

No one here is supporting the killing of baby or mother seals, nor is anyone supporting the unregulated killing of seals.

Also, SlenderRex, even though I'm an anti-patriot I'm still highly offended by your defamation of all Canadians. America has inhumane factory farms, yet I don't attack America or Americans.

I never even directly said I supported it! What is your problem? Just because I'm from Canada doesn't mean I support the slaughter of baby seals. This is not something I support, but at the same time I must admit you are massively overreacting.

Thank you for the set, Azrael!

As far as the Humane Society I feel they do a lot of good. They save a lot of homeless/neglected animals (though like any organization, not all will find homes) and - correct me if I am wrong - from what I've just read I'm only hearing them opposing the private ownership of large parrots and dangerous reptiles, which I can't say I am opposed to. Gigantic snakes shouldn't be able to be kept by just anyone with money and the bigger parrots, some of the smartest animals there are, shouldn't be available to just anyone to stick in a cage as a plaything. Now frogs or corn snakes or canaries or budgerigars are different, but I don't see them fighting to get rid of these species.

As far as seals, a regulated hunt of adults is fine. I don't support the clubbing of defenseless pups.

But the HSUS defames Canada & Canadians for the regulated hunting of seals. It also spreads lies about the seal hunt.

They oppose trophy hunting of endangered and threatened species, and they're main enemy when it comes to that is the safari club international
