Why are you all being hurtful to me, can't you see I have a strong passion for animal welfare? |

Like you've been any less hurtful to us, Mr. "I'm going to dehumanize you because you're a Canadian"!

This is all off-topic, let's not turn this into a bunch of insults. Both sides, cut it out, please or the topic will have to be closed. |

Sorry, I've just been greatly offended by SlenderRex's posts, but I'll try to keep it as light as possible.

SlenderRex, now before I make you upset, it doesn't seem like you are showing your passion toward animal welfare. What you are saying is what a member of PETA would say. Insulting others isn't showing your passion of animals, it only makes you seem like a segregative person. I'm not trying to be mean, but please, do a little bit of research before saying something. Be careful of what you say. Anyway, I'm getting both sides for the HSUS issue. Edited by Fluffs, Nov 7 2013, 10:03 PM.

I am honestly perfectly okay with the seal hunt as long as it stays humane, like most people in this topic. |

It's easy to say "No! Don't hurt the seals! They are cute!", if you're living in a heated house thousands of miles away with your food and clothing all bought prepared for you at a store; even I would be inclined to think that way. But you need to think about it; these people don't all have it as easy as you, and cute or not, the seal hunt is a vital part of their livelihoods at least for many people. |

And seal is the easiest and most common red meat to find around there. Yeah, fish and sea birds might be easier, but they don't provide as much as seal which also give their fat, fur, bone and even internal organs too. I am againt clubbing the little baby seals as well. Like I said before, it's not fair to kill such helpless and harmless creature, especially in the age that they are very important to the ecosystem(main food source of Polar Bear for example.) If someone wanna hunt seals, I would give them 2 choices. First go grab the gun and find some large male seal instead of pups, or the second, for someone that wanna beat something to death..... Go and try to beat the walruses instead, that would be much more "fair"....

Alright maybe seals can be resources, but not whales, with seals around there's no need to hunt whales. |

I agree with you there. I suspect seals are much easier prey anyway.

Hey sorry about before. It's just that as an animal advocate I have strong feelings. Edited by Tyrannocanthosaurus, Nov 8 2013, 09:52 PM.

Being an animal advocate also means using some common sense. You have to remember about sustainability and local economy, as well as realizing that what may seem cruel is actually more humane that it seems. |

Now THAT is a bad example of the seal hunt. They allow the killing of baby pups as well. |

Namibia is also known for the shooting of rhinos, elephants, and lions for sport which is also bad. |
