Melissa Bachman has made a career out of hunting wildlife, for pure sport. Her antics are captured extensively on her personal website: http://www.melissabachman.com/. She is an absolute contradiction to the culture of conservation, this country prides itself on. Her latest Facebook post features her with a lion she has just executed and murdered in South Africa. There is a petition to the South African goverment in change.org to deny her future entry to the country. http://www.change.org/petitions/the-government-of-the-republic-of-south-africa-deny-future-entry-to-melissa-bachman?share_id=YqNpXBWipL&utm_campaign=autopublish&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=share_petition This is the b****:

Thank you for the set, Azrael!

Now, while people like her (I'd never heard of her before; what does she do?) really disgust me, why is she being attacked for this more than any hunter? She's not the only one to shoot animals and she did it legally. I feel I may be missing something. |

That smugly face just begs to have entry denial paper to be rubbed into it. She's no different to me than all the people who visit africa just to get a trophy for their collection, and I disagree with their actions. I have no problem with hunting for food, or seasonal cull of species that our intrusion on territory allowed/pushed to overpopulate the ecosystem, but this is BS. I disagree too, but my point is LOTS of people go trophy hunting. Who is this woman, and why is HER hunting the only one people seem to care about? |

Because apparently she runs a hunting buisness or something like that. There is a link to her webpage there. And i agree with you Sheather, but we have a petition to sign against her and not against all the other poachers... so at least can potentially stop one. |

what a hunt, as if lion hunting today is that exciting: normally you kill an animal and wait for the lion to come and eat it, and then you hide nearby waiting for the lion to return ... i can understand trophy hunting of things like antelopes, hogs and buffaloes as they aren't endangered and they are usually eaten, but this makes no sense. |

I think the only time you may kill an animals is when you need to. I'm not against it to hunt for food, but for nothing else. (there are other solution than hunting when it's about population control, and why do we want to control everything?) |

Because we were the ones that introduced invasive species in other environments and then those species becoma a menace to the native species survival? Is not about trying to control everything... is about trying to fix what we did wrong. |

Given we killed off the predators, we must now kill some deer or all deer will die. On a forest somewhere, all the lynxes, wolves, coyotes and bears were killed to protect the deer. Result : they bred so much they ate everything and all starved to death. |
