How about a wall mounted or stationary crane meat holder kinda like the crane that brought in the cow for the raptors in jp1 and the meat for the indominus in jw |

Hey, I need some help. For the behind the scenes signs, many are going to be diets to post on your zoo kitchen walls. I would like some example from you the players (Right now I have one for fruit bats, polar bears, lemurs, reptiles, and penguins) I am in search of more especially bird diets for mixed exhibits, birds of prey. I would also like some for other zoo animals, definitely lions and giant pandas. Also aquarium diets, like for turtles, sea otters, and dolphins here is an example of one; Lemur Diet AM: 3/4 c Leafeater, dry/lemur (Marion Zool.) daily Vegetables, mixed assorted, feed 1-2 times daily PM: 1/2 c Leafeater, dry/lemur (Marion Zool.) daily 6 leaves kale twice weekly 3 1/2 leaves greens, collard twice weekly 4 1/2 bunches spinach once weekly 3 1/2 leaves greens, dandelion once weekly 1/6 head cabbage once weekly 1/2 whole turnip, raw twice weekly Feed strictly as indicated. Do not alter diet. If change is required, provide details in diet request form. Instructions: Note any item refusals. Browse should not exceed 1-3 foot sections / animal, no Acacia spp. Also I have released some new behind the scenes stuff Edited by Whalebite, May 14 2017, 08:37 PM.

here you go whalebite found this by searching zoo diets: What do they feed lions at the zoo? Meat. Lions are carnivores, which means that meat is is an essential and unavoidable part of their diets. Lions in captivity feed heavily on a variety of different types of meats, including beef, sheep, rabbit, chicken and horse -- including heads of horses. In the wild, a giant panda's diet is 99% bamboo. The other 1% consists of other grasses/herbs and occasionally small prey animals. At the Toronto Zoo, the giant pandas will be fed a diet that consists of fresh bamboo, leaf eater biscuits, apples, and occasionally sugar cane or icicles as a treat. Out in the ocean, sea turtles eat a wide variety of food items including sea jellies, fish, shrimp, lobsters, crabs, and other crustaceans. Some eat algae, too! Our sea turtles are fed a varied diet of clam, shrimp, capelin, herring, mahi mahi, mackerel, sardines, and an occasional squid. Bottlenose dolphins eat several kinds of fish including mullet, mackerel, herring, cod, capelin and squid. The amount of fish they eat depends on the fish species they are feeding on. Sea otters eat urchins, abalone, mussels, clams, crabs, snails and about 40 other marine species. Sea otters eat approximately 25% of their weight in food each day to support their high metabolism. |

You could look at the husbandry guides. I think there is a section about food and is very specific. https://www.aza.org/animal-care-manuals http://www.australasianzookeeping.org/Husbandry%20Manuals%20-%20Mammals.htm Edited by Ignacio, May 14 2017, 11:30 PM.

Some zoos do diets based on per animal..and others per their whole group. I think you could just make it up roughly and everyone would be happy our otter diets (1.1.0) read something like: 4 mice 6 prawns 60 grams cat biscuits 4 day old chicks (feet and yolk sacs removed) Simple. But vary day to day- some days they get mince with additives (vegemite and my beau), mussels, etc Edited by Xirapha, May 18 2017, 09:30 PM.
