I'd say that comes from the half frame rate, as it's taken frame by frame from a real jay.

I think the animation is far too slow. From what I've seen of Jays in my garden (and I get a lot) their 'hopping' consists more of 2 or 3 really quick hops (which aren't very jumpy and the animal remains close to the ground) and then they stop for a few seconds to look around, and then carry on hopping. I've never seen one continuously hop like that. Here are a couple of examples of what I mean (sorry they're not always showing hopping, but there aren't many videos of European Jays )

You're right, it's about a third too slow, fixed that. The continuous hopping is just looped for a locomotive animation later on, one hop = one animation ![]() Source of the hop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK6vPJxUank at 7:35 Edited by HENDRIX, Dec 4 2013, 02:58 PM.

I think the problem is what Okeanos said ![]() But still, i admire the work you are doing with this animation set. I love all that i've seen so far. |

The species you are making is the Eurasian jay (Garrulus glandarius).

the animation is very good, but the bird walk very slow, I recommend that accelerate the animation, and also should be intervals in which the bird stops and looks around nervously and then continue walking |

You don't say? While I love whole idea of animating things, others are right, it needs some work plus this bird hops like a kangaroo. |

I kinda doubt Hendrix wouldn't know what the species he is doing is. |

There'll be no foot-walking! Just air-flying!

Actually, after seeing both videos, I saw something different that I couldn't put my finger on before The wing folding. Right now the wings are kept right next to the body, horizontally so to speak. But when I looked at the video I saw that all the wings are much further "tucked into" the body, with the wings actually touching the back. They're folded "on top" of the tail.Other than that, I like the idle animation, well done

If I brought them closer together I would get intersections with the bode & tail, and they would be standing further out at the hands.

Hmm, a shame really, as at the moment it looks kinda weird this way. But if it's not possible, then I understand

Well, it wouldn't look much more real then, either, because the feathers are still very thin due to stretching. That's the limitation of game design. Just can't animate every single feather for ZT2, it'd be overkill, especially on such tiny birds.

Hm. Perhaps when they hop they sort of, lean forward a bit. And them they stop and straighten up? And maybe it's the slight bump it has when landing. It's hart to pinpoint. Perhaps the feet could flex a little. But it is still so good anyway!
