Out of curiosity, what about the ambient vulture animations? It has a few unused animations for eating, walking, and hopping, among others. |

I've just realized how badly we needed these animations! In fact, the hopping animations could also be applied to some smaller extinct dinosaurs now that I think about it. |

Also, a quadrupedal variant could work for bats and anurognathids. |

Birds, bats and pterosaurs all have a different approach to locomotion, with birds, as bipedal digitigrades, being the least similar to the others

Ambient vulture are the same rig as peafowl and can be combined, they're pretty good for vultures but not for small birds. ![]() Yeah, I've been looking for some possible file type for ages, asked on blender forums but there just doesn't seem to be anything... Maybe I'll create my own very simple format, but I don't really know python or the blender api so that's not going to happen any time soon.

I was refering to the snake adressing lego, no the bird anims aren't cancelled, but they're not yet started, either. I'll keep you updated when I start the rig and model.

this seems to be an interesting project, but even when we have the perfect nodes and anims, the coding still would have to be written, many birds live most of their lives in trees or in the air, and coding behavior while perching should really be remaked, probably the whole coding sheme is not fitting for what we would call realistic. the current peafwol perches when a certain need is at a certain ammount and then has up to 3 different behaviors it could then show while perching. realistic would mean it sits in the tree most of the time, showing all kinds of behavior, and when a certain need reaches a certain value it comes to the ground and eats, drinks or whatever... edit: and while we are at that, docking anims(mating/fighting/laying eggs/feeding young) while docking on a tree seem also impossible at the moment, another problem that should be solved... Sorry DM, but as per the board rules, you must have proof you are working on the project in question to have a topic in this section. As all presented here so far is currently only speculation, I've moved the topic. In the event you begin working on it, we can move it back to the designer projects area. |

Got the skeleton done and the rig set up ready for animating:![]() I'll be probably be doing an european jay model instead, which is the next step. anatomy is sourced from a crow, and as there are always some crows on the roof across the road, it seems to be the better approach.
