@Dilopho: Kind of like that :P . But I'll post the thing I meant in the future (I don't have any time to scan :P )

Edit: Actually, now that I've compared it, the picture above is nearly the same like what I thought of, so yes xD

Edit 2 : Managed to shoot the pic so here it is

some questions
-what relatively small dinosaur species would be well suited to a diving role? equivalent to loons
-how mobile was hesperornis on land?
-what is a reasonable max size for colossochelys?

and some spec behavior to run past
-sinemys gamera using its shell extensions to prevent being swallowed by large fish
-pack hunting semi nocturnal titanis
-salmon like inland spawning behavior of titanoboa, yet the adults live along coastal estuaries/flood plains

BTW this is for my light novel again xD

Well, the ONLY problem i could see is the Possibility of Species looking Similar, which was not one of the Functions, but its still possible, i mean, Edmontosaurus does have a Small fleshy crest on its head.

@stargatedalek-Hesperonis couldn't stand up on land so it pretty much pushed around on land and wasn't very agile or mobile.

Wrong topic AVC . NVM, didn't see you are answering Stargate xD

And about the Para thing, I also thought about that xD . But size probably is the key IMO. But we'll never know if Para had that kind of crest until more proof.

Hesperornithiformes would fit. They're in fact probably closest to fully aquatic life of all dinosaurs that were and are.

Aren't most spines an protrusions on modern turtles used for defence against predators? This seems really probable.

The idea is very creative indeed, but that seems unnecessary. Most of species which do long spawning migrations, go on them because of either giving them safety or providing food. I guess that Titanoboa youngs would be born big enough to defend themselves, and most probably the coastal areas had enough food for such a snake to live on.

thanks

as for a diving dinosaur, I was really thinking along the lines of finding something to contrast hesperornis, which I'm already including

The only thing you could really have for a diving non-avian dinosaur is Spinosaurids if you want, but there aren't any that are particularly small.

Otherwise, you have penguins, auks, grebes, loons, ducks, ect. that you could use.

There are a lot more species of Hesperornithes other than Hesperornis itself: like Baptornis, Potamornis ...

What are the primary skeletal differences between Ornithomimus and Struthiomimus?
