What! But it was considered LC How can it suddenly turn into endangered? I am a bit confused maybe there is something wrong with wikipedia?I can not believe this.

I wouldn't be sure about this, anyone can change anything on Wikipedia, and I can't find anything about it elsewhere.

it's still listed as NT in the Italian wiki.
to be honest i don't even think we can be very sure about the conservation status of such a rare and elusive animal that lives in an impraticable environment.

Killer Whales rule the World

I thought they were considered Endangerd ages ago.
I'm more suprised that they were LC in the first place. (Very tiny range, habitat destruction, poaching, etc.)
It's not only on wikipedia, it also made news in a Belgian online newspaper. (Link, for those who read and understand Dutch)

Thank you for the set, Azrael!

That makes me feel like this.

Really though, that's sad.

At least, it seems, most big zoos now have them and they breed relatively well in captivity.

I really hope that some zoos will start conservation programs... but if the main causes of their population decline are the sociopolitical issues in the DRC then i don't see a solution in the near future... on the contrary, i just can imagine this will get worst for the okapis :S

Is it silly that i feel so sad about this? I'm really depresed after reading this new... i feel kind of stupid but is how i feel.

I'm sad too. I wish that if I could buy some from the pointies shop they would become real and repopulate the wild, but alas that isn't going to happen. :/

I'm really sad too. The okapi is such a charismatic animal. Like a panda, but.. less dumb. To lose it would be symbolic in a way.

Poor okapi. This is shocking. Maybe somewhere have to start the conservation program to breed them more serious.
