I figured out something, to prevent man eaters, people just need to be a hell lot more careful, therefore no
Unecessary trophy hunting required. ;)

We can't prevent every last lion in the world from getting injuries that would cause it to be a man-eater.

Doesn't mean we have to kill non-man eaters for sport.

how do you expect people to be more careful ?
it's the lions that come to human areas to eat people, not people getting eaten because they accidentally ended up in lion territory. and preventing a lion to get into a house from the roof like Santa and eat a farmer it's not easy like stopping a fox from getting to your chickens, especially in countries that can't afford much.

not to mention, hunting makes animals afraid of humans and thus less likely to attack. take a look at aggressive prey animals like mooses, wild boars and large cattles: these animals will often attack predators on sight, so the predators links the sight of said herbivores with an unpleasant experience and tries to avoid them. and those animals are usually left alone by the predators, unless they are the best food source available or they are found vulnerable. Hunting can have the same effect on the populations: boars rarely get close to human areas where they are hunted, while they are more brave where there's no threat for them. and the number of attacks from wolves in Europe has decreased because persecution made wolves afraid of people (among other factors like rabid decrease).

We don't have to kill innocent lions though, just man-eaters.

but you can't just tell if a lion is a man eater or not (unless it has some distinctive trait).
of course if a lion population has never caused troubles it could just be left to itself until troubles arise, but to be honest i don't think such lions exhist, and that's because lions have hunted our ancestors for millennias, and see us as a prey.

How would we be any better if we hunted them?

It's all just nature, Slender. I agree that it's sad, but the world can't be perfect. It never has been, and never will be. If there's another solution to these problems, then I'm all for it! But so far, I don't see one.

it's not a matter of being better than something: who cares to be better than a lion ?
it's just evolution: predators hunt preys, preys become better defenced or go extinct. lions have been eating our ancestors, but now we can finally fight back too. however we must be sure not to exagerate with our defense.

Well, It is Natural Humans hunt animals if we can have the right they do so as well, And the worst part is that we understand everything and can stop, You can't explain to a lion to stop killing people my whole point here is that it's Natural.

Hunting is sad, but sometimes necessary. With life comes death. You can't have one without the other. It's all sad, but it sometimes can't be avoided. If some elephants need to be killed due to overpopulation, we must do what has to be done, no matter how terrible it is.

Nature. Nature is cruel. Many animals die from disease due to nature. Honey badgers kidnap cheetah cubs. Baby herons will kill their siblings. Mayflies die after reaching maturity. Mother Nature is a jerk, isn't she?
