Ecotourism vs hunting

Slender, you have good intentions at heart, but you are just not being realistic. Preventing every single lion from becoming a man eater just isn't possible. The world isn't perfect, as we have been trying to tell you. While trophy hunting may not be respectful, I don't think it is the Satanic activity you are making it out to be. Hunting is sometimes the only way. Animals die, that's nature, and so long as we don't overdo it hunting can be essential to the ecosystem. In the case of unnecessary poaching, however, I agree whole-heartedly that it is immoral.

Humans are so barbaric that it's funny.
Nature. Nature is cruel. Many animals die from disease due to nature. Honey badgers kidnap cheetah cubs. Baby herons will kill their siblings. Mayflies die after reaching maturity. Mother Nature is a jerk, isn't she?
Not as much as her most diabolical creation (us of course)
Slender, remember that not all humans are disgusting and bloodthirsty and s***. Remember that there are those good humans who are TRYING TO STOP the evil meanie crappy humans from poaching.

And hunting is important, too. No matter if you like it or not, call it "bloodthirsty", "evil", "demonic", and "cruel" all you want, but what has to be done has to be done. PRONTO.

....it's the Circle of Life.

i don't see how we are barbaric: we don't cannibalize that often, we don't kill sons of other humans to have the female mate with us, we raise up childrens even if they don't belong to us ...

But we still kill the animals of species that became our pop culture idols ;)
It's considered to be barbaric by their fans, even if that animal is a most common species.
Those who liked watching Bambi never would kill a whitetail, etc.

I liked watching Bambi, and I feel nothing when I see ders hunted (except being a bit sorry for the animal, but that'sthe feeling you get everytime an animal that isn't a mosquito dies).
that was just a Disney movie, people shouldn't take them so seriously.

Neither do we. Killing for fun is definitely wrong, and I don't think anyone here is arguing that it's right.

I felt sorry for a hunter that got a doe instead of buck, and for all the bucks also - they were drawn neutered!

Really, is there anybody who didn't squash flies on the window for fun?
Or didn't try to blow up a mosquito with skin tension? ;)

I take pleasure in hunting and fishing, thanks.
Though we eat the animal and use its pelt ;)

As long as you make use of the animals you kill, then it's fine. I just mean those who kill without even making use of the carcass. Then it's just sadism.

Bugs we kill can be used too, to be fed to our pet herps & birds for example.
Just choose non-venomous ones and don't squash them too hard, or they'll get bad :)

Large, beautiful insects can make up a good collection.
And you get a thrill when hunting them, e.g. a mammoth wasp (I first saw & caught those monsters at the age of 10!)

Hey Cy I'm sorry about before, but you can't ignore the fact trophy hunting is actually causing a decline in big cat numbers.
