Dude, any animal can be romanticized with poetry to become more appealing - even feral dogs, Australian rabbits or mosquitoes.

It's not your fault, that was Disney's influence to young minds.

Look, there is no reason that says lions should be hunted.

As well there's no reason that says zoo lions should be incinerated after death.
Trophy animals are ones whose value is appreciated.

I personally feel that displaying them in museums is a more respectable way to appreciate them after death than as trophies.

To get a lion from a local zoo, the museum workers should act quickly, and the lion may be in horrible condition after autopsy (or just look bad at old age). Some zoos don't notify museums or researchers about dead animals and dispose of them instantly.
For Simba fans, shooting wild lions at hunt can be replaced by tranq overdose, so they just sleep and don't wake up. Though tranq darts are much more expensive than ammo, and have shorter range.

and again, this is because you are not used to eating them.
I bet it's perfectly fine for the local people to kill and eat lions, elephants and all those animals they have evolved along (as a culture).

And remember about natural death of old male lions... after being exiled from pride by younger males, they just starve, ending up as hyena food. Sad end for a 'majestic' kitty, huh?

Again, why LIONS should be 'taboo'?
Surely, is they had a slightly different anatomy, e.g. being scaly as rat tails, instead of being floofy with majestic manes around their 'faces', there would be virtually no lion fans.
Remember, they're just animals, and a species that breeds fairly well both in the wild & in captivity.

Was that in reply to my post? Because all I said is that I don't know whose side I'm on, not that lions deserve any more or less respect than any other animal.

The same could be said for humans. why should we not kill other people, canibalism is common in nature. ;)
