This will be probably sort of photo-documentary, separated in episodes, featuring migrations of wandering animals.I will start with posting enlarged version of what was supposed to be my Christmas photography contest entry(I didn't have time).I know, salmons aren't in breeding colours, but it's too late I guess. They're just random migrating salmons, no particular species. Before spawning, salmons live in small groups near the surface of the open ocean. ![]() ![]() ![]() But after some years, shoals go deep inland to place, where they have been hatched, to lay eggs first and at the same last time. ![]() Photos follow a group of them, swimming somewhere to one of Alaskan rivers. This coastal wetland is formed from deltas of many freshwaters fused together. ![]() ![]() ![]() One of first dangers are local groups of brown bears, only waiting for a time of biggest wealth for them in harsh Alaskan conditions. ![]() ![]() Most fish still go up the river, though. This image shows the small, shallow river several kilometres later. ![]() Quite different conditions from the borderless, almost infinite for a small animal ocean, aren't they? ![]() ![]() ![]() Forest is becoming denser.Inside it, there is a main danger - rapid waterfalls and big population of bears. Many will die there. ![]() Tired fish still try to jump out of the water and survive this trap. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Only the fittest and luckest will have a chance to spawn. ![]() ![]() But after that and small stream, there is a place of spawning, a crystal-clear lake.Due to unique sense of smell, animals are able to find it after so much time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here they breed, lay eggs and from hunger and hard conditions they just die, providing food for newly hatched larvae. Please give me your opinions and vote in a poll for the next episode! |

This is really beautiful! I love the foliage and all the details. That waterfall is really beautiful and I think that it's very realistic.

This looks amazing, though sometimes there's air visible behind the trees, while I think there should be more trees, but great work on this! |

I think this is an awesome idea! Everything looks really good. I can see how much work you put into making the forest and the river. All those rocks looks perfect, same with the waterfalls. I'm eager for more of this

If anyone is still here...![]() Full off krill and fish summer coasts of the Antarctica provide a plenty of food for many animals... ![]() ...like this humpback. ![]() These whales feed using extraordinary technique: they make a bubble net, trapping fish inside, by clappings of their tails. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() But in the winter, the food ends.No feasts for a very long time. ![]() ![]() Humpbacks start migrating to their breeding waters, far in the tropics. ![]() ![]() Days and nights... ![]() ![]() ...far, to the open sea. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() But then...You see this shelf?Thousands of kilometres from the Antarctica, somewhere in the Ecuador, they find a mates and breed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here we can see a one with it's baby.
