Do you like cats or dogs?

Thank you for the set, Azrael!

Keeping pets indoors does not harm the pets. My cat has been indoors his entire life, he's never known the outdoors. He's quite healthy, playful, and happy. Our dogs have a fenced in yard and get out for regular walks and supervised runs, and come indoors and out as they please. They also are very happy. I don't condone unsupervised free range dogs in most cases and never cats (cats can't be trained not to hunt like I've seen some roaming dogs have been).

@DM :But you know right that something like small breed of dog can be kept in the house for whole time....

I like dogs more, I like how they please their owner while cats don't have much interest to do so....

But both of them will be thrown out of cliff when it comes to.... CHICKEN!!!! I LUV PET CHICKY!!!

At least in my oppinion. :P

You may think he's happy, but it's not natural. Anyway, that does not change the fact that many people do not keep their cats inside or their dogs close to them, and that's the problem.

Yes, everything in NZ will die form cats and dogs (and humans). But mainly cats are the biggest killers.

And I don't feel like I have to choose between dogs and cats. I weigh animals on all their merits, which cat owners don't usually do.

Why would you own a lion? Do you own a reserve?

I have two dogs and a cat. Needless to say I'm a fan of both species.

A domestic cat is no longer a natural organism. It is adapted to live with humans. Born and raised indoors, the cat knows no different. We have a big house, he has plenty to do, and plenty of interaction with both humans and the dogs, which he is bonded with.

An animal does not need a natural environment to be happy. It needs an enriching one.

Agree. My dog is really happy living with us and he stays inside my house most of the time. He love to be around people and gets really excited every time friends or family come to visit us. And he is healthy, which is the most important thing.

I live in a city, so dogs or cats aren't a big threat to wild animals here.

It is different in NZ because we are talking about birds, and they live allot in city's. And also, out property's often have allot of foliage so we get a menagerie in the city. Not that we have what you'd call city's. Allot of it is spread out.

Cats should always be kept indoors and allowed outdoors only with supervision, particularly in regions with threatened native small animals. Indoor cats live much longer and are not inherently unhappy.

Also, indoor cat will be safe from their "long time no see" natural predators as well. Many cats that their owner allow to go out side got eaten by coyotes, pythons, monitor lizards, bird of preys, large owls and also venomous snakes as well.

It's not wise to let your cats out when you live in the place where those predators wandering around.

Don't forget about vehicles.
a dog can be safety kept in a garden, but a cat will almost inevitably climb up the fence and get out, exposing itself to the various threats of the world ...

I'm kind of happy i live in Sweden.. We don't have coyotes, pythons and such. My cat walks in and out as she wants, and theres no problem :) The biggers threat for a cat here is cars, but most cats know to stay away. I like both dogs and cats, but if i had to choose, it would be cats <3

You are so lucky... Water Monitor here used to eat my aunt's kitten. We have so much threats for cats here.

Even dogs aren't safe. Reticulate Python usually take the dog fool enough to go into the dense forest alone.
